This is "my place". You know where you have that one spot to get away from daily life, this one's mine. It's calm, peaceful and am in complete balance and harmony, it's home to me, my familiar. It's "my place".
Rimrock Lake is a vacation destination located outside of Yakima, Washington.
There are lots of hiking trails in the area to check out during the spring and summer months. During winter, there are several snow-mobile trails close by, and only 12 miles from White Pass, where you can ski, snowboard and tube. Rimrock Lake is the perfect place to unplug from the world and relax.
Rimrock Lake is well known for its Kokonee (landlocked silvers) and other trout fishing.
Water skiing, tubing & Jet skiing, kayaking, sail boating and other general watercraft are some of the summer season water activities. As the Rimrock Lake Dam Spillway lowers the lake level, the Tieton River is a major attraction in September for River Rafting enthusiasts.
The lake is used as a storage reservoir for the Yakima Project, an irrigation project run by the United States Bureau of Reclamation. An impoundment of the Tieton River, Rimrock Lake's capacity and discharge is controlled by Tieton Dam, a 319-foot (97 m) high structure built in 1925. Rimrock Lake's active capacity is 198,000 acre feet (244,000,000 m3).
Upstream from the lake, the Tieton River is impounded by Clear Creek Dam, another element of the Yakima Project. About 8 miles (13 km) downstream from Rimrock Lake the Tieton River is tapped by the Tieton Diversion Dam, supplying water to the Tieton Main Canal. The canal supplies irrigation water to the Tieton Division of the Yakima Project, with excess and agricultural runoff draining into Ahtanum Creek, west of Yakima.
